Siemens and AWL Strengthen Collaboration for Advanced Intralogistics Robotics Solutions

Siemens and AWL have reinforced their longstanding intensive collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Siemens announced today. This MoU formalizes the strategic business commitment between AWL and Siemens to jointly develop and expand innovative machine controllers and machine software for robotic solutions in the intralogistics market.

This collaboration underscores a shared ambition to meet the growing demand for advanced automation solutions, leveraging AWL’s expertise in robotics and Siemens’ leading technologies in industrial control systems.

Faster, More Efficient, and More Reliable

The intralogistics market includes all internal goods flows within companies in e-commerce, warehouses, and manufacturing businesses. This rapidly growing sector faces multiple challenges: consumers order more frequently, expect faster and more precise deliveries, and don’t tolerate errors. Increasing complexity demands smart hardware solutions combined with innovative industrial software. Arjen Vos (Director Strategy & Development at AWL) describes Siemens’ contribution as follows:

“For years, Siemens has proven to be a reliable partner for AWL in its global market approach. It has again demonstrated its innovation capabilities by developing a modern software platform. Siemens has clearly shifted towards a software-oriented approach, preparing the company for the future.”

Addressing Workforce Shortages

Thanks to Siemens’ and AWL’s technology, intralogistics service providers can tackle workforce shortages, among other challenges. The innovative robotic systems take over physically demanding, repetitive, and sometimes hazardous tasks, improving health and safety for employees. Additionally, these robots create opportunities for more cognitively challenging and engaging work. Employees can collaborate with the robots, ensuring a safer working environment and enhancing job satisfaction and engagement. Dirk De Bilde (CEO Siemens) explains:

“With this collaboration, Siemens and AWL take another step forward in their long-term partnership, with a strong focus on the intralogistics market. Through innovation and smart technologies, we continue to drive the sector forward. By working together and combining our strengths, we can accelerate progress.”

A Rapidly Changing World

Siemens and AWL expect this collaboration to lead to innovative technological solutions that contribute to the industry's safety and sustainability goals. Additionally, they see potential for broader market interest, with other sectors also discovering the benefits of AWL-Siemens solutions.
