AWL and Sereact join forces: AI-supported robot solutions for industrial automation

The Stuttgart-based AI robotics company Sereact and the global automation expert AWL are entering a strategic partnership. The aim is to integrate the Sereact AI model into AWL's robotics solutions to provide highly flexible, self-learning automation systems for the intralogistics industry.

AWL is a global provider of robotics and automation solutions with over 4,000 integrated robots. Sereact focuses on AI-supported software for autonomous pick-and-place, which enables robots to adapt flexibly to changing conditions. By combining experience in machine construction and robotic integration with AI-supported software, AWL and Sereact are opening up new possibilities for flexible automation. Conventional systems reach their limits in dynamic production environments in particular. “We combine AWL's 30 years of hardware and robotic integration expertise with our AI software. This results in solutions that enable companies to make their intralogistics processes more efficient and scalable,” explains Ralf Gulde, co-founder and CEO of Sereact.

Flexible robotics for dynamic requirements in industry and intralogistics

In modern production and logistics centers, traditional automation systems are often inflexible: they require long training times and cannot react spontaneously to changing requirements. This is precisely where the Sereact AI Model comes in. “Our customers need robots that adapt dynamically to new situations - and this is exactly what the integration of Sereact AI into our solutions makes possible,” adds Arjen Vos, Director Strategy & Development at AWL. This technology is powered by the latest AI advancements, enabling multilingual interactions and introducing a new level of engagement between operators and technology.

Maximum flexibility for item picking

A key advantage of the Sereact AI is its ability to handle complex or changing tasks - for example, when products have varying dimensions or sensitive materials. “The zero-shot performance of the Sereact AI model convinced us. It allows us to handle items without prior training, which increases throughput and reduces error rates,” explains Vos. Initially, the focus will be on item picking processes.

Joint projects in preparation

The first applications of the joint solution are already in the pilot phase with selected customers. Global deployment is planned in the long term, as AWL has facilities in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, China, Mexico, the USA and the UK.

“From the outset, we have been geared towards using our robot systems in a wide variety of environments and industries,” says Gulde. “With AWL as a partner, we can transfer AI-supported robotics into real applications more quickly and offer companies worldwide new automation options.”

About Sereact

Sereact was founded by Ralf Gulde (CEO) and Marc Tuscher (CTO). The Stuttgart-based end-to-end solutions provider develops AI-powered robotics solutions used by leading customers across various industries and applications in Europe and the USA. The AI software equips robots with visual and motor skills, enabling them to perceive their environment and develop intelligent strategies to execute various physical tasks. The systems analyze and solve unknown situations in real time, from precisely handling individual objects to managing complex logistics and manufacturing processes. This allows for anomaly detection, process optimization, and setting new standards in flexibility and efficiency for autonomous systems.
